(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Lieutenant John P. Phillips (NSN: 0-78931), United States Navy, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (Posthumously) for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as Executive Officer of a carrier-based dive bomber in Bombing Squadron SIX (VB-6) in the Gilbert, Marshall and Caroline Islands, from 19 November 1943 to 16 February 1944.
