Pettigrew (NSN: 0-326442), United States Navy, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a Fighter Pilot embarked in U.S.S. SAN JACINTO from 4 January 1945 to 27 March 1945. His gallant and untiring devotion to duty was at all times in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
