The President of the United States of America takes pride in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross (Posthumously) to Lieutenant, Junior Grade Charles Milton Pearson (NSN: 0-240593), United States Navy, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight while participating in hazardous dive bombing missions against Japanese bases and shipping in the Marshall and Caroline Islands from 29 January 1944 to 30 March 1944. Lieutenant, Junior Grade, Pearson pressed home a daring attack on a Japanese cruiser at Palau and scored direct hits at perilously low level.
