Neary (NSN: 6090203), United States Navy, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as Aircrewman in a Patrol Bomber of Patrol Bombing Squadron TWENTY-SEVEN (VPB-27), Fleet Air Wing 1, in the Okinawa area, Yellow Sea and China Coast from 29 March 1945 to 21 June 1945.
