Moreland (NSN: 5568826), United States Navy, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (Posthumously) for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as Deck Gunner in Patrol Bombing Squadron EIGHTEEN (VPB-18), off the coasts of China and Japan from 14 April 1945 to 26 June 1945.
