McDavid, Jr. (NSN: 7220418), United States Navy, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (Posthumously) for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as Radioman-gunner of an aircraft embarked in U.S.S. BELLEAU WOOD (CVL-24) over Kure Harbor, Japan, Ryukyu, and East China Sea areas on 19, 23 and 24 March 1945.
