Kitchen (NSN: 8747745), United States Navy, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (Posthumously) for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an Aircrewman in Patrol Bombing Squadron ONE HUNDRED SIX (VPB-106), off the coasts of Borneo, Celebes, Malaya and Indo-China from 26 April 1945 to 1 June 1945.
