The President of the United States of America takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Aviation Radioman First Class Wesley P. Terry (NSN: 3822983), United States Navy, for gallantry in action as Radioman of a Torpedo Bomber during an attack on shipping at Kavieng Harbor on 25 December 1943. Aviation Radioman First Class Terry performed his duties despite severe wounds and continued heavy anti-aircraft fire. He skillfully armed his bombs during the bombing run, thereby enabling his pilot to drop all bombs directly on target. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Naval Service.
