    (Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Lieutenant, Junior Grade Philip T. Sampson (NSN: 0-256064), United States Naval Reserve, was awarded the Silver Star (Posthumously) for gallantry in action while serving as Piloting Officer aboard the U.S.S. HARDER (SS-257) during the FIFTH War Patrol of that submarine in enemy-controlled waters from 26 May 1944 to 21 June 1944. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Naval Service.
