Christakes (NSN: 8045241), United States Navy, was awarded the Silver Star for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action as a member of a gun crew of a 40-mm. gun aboard the U.S.S. HUGH W. HADLEY (DD-774), off Okinawa, on 11 May 1945.
