(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Rear Admiral Thomas Reece Sargent, United States Coast Guard, was awarded the Legion of Merit for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States in 1961. Admiral Sargent supervised the development and construction of a chain of Coast Guard LORAN [Long Range Aids to Navigation] Transmitting Stations in Thailand and in Vietnam.
