The President of the United States of America takes pride in presenting the Navy and Marine Corps Medal (Posthumously) to Lieutenant (MC) Thomas Robert Turino (NSN: 0-191595), United States Navy, for heroic conduct as Senior Medical Officer in the LST-342 during a Japanese bombing raid at Rendova, 2 July 1943. Lieutenant Turino worked almost continuously for three days administering to more than 200 wounded placed aboard his ship as an emergency measure. He performed many difficult operations with expert professional skill.
