    The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Aviation Radioman Second Class John S. Wall, United States Navy, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight during the occupation of Sicily from 10 July to 19 July 1943. While serving as gunner aboard a Scouting Plane, Aviation Radioman Second Class Wall participated in many dangerous spotting and reconnaissance missions which carried him deep into enemy territory and contributed immeasurably to the success of our air operations.
