The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Navy and Marine Corps Medal to Lieutenant, Junior Grade Eugene Pridonoff, United States Navy, for heroic conduct while serving aboard a United States Submarine during war patrols in enemy controlled waters during World War II. As Communications Officer in a submarine during four successful war patrols, Lieutenant, Junior Grade, Pridonoff assisted materially in the destruction of 35,417 tons of hostile shipping and the damaging of a warship and other vessels, totaling 26,300 tons. His skill and alertness were largely responsible for the sinking of several Japanese ships.
