The President of the United States of America takes pride in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross (Posthumously) to Lieutenant, Junior Grade Teddy Louis Hull (NSN: 0-124192), United States Navy, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight during World War II. Returning from an escort mission, Lieutenant, Junior Grade, Hull sighted 25 Zeros and immediately pulled up to attack from above. Starting his dive at 25,000 feet, he engaged the enemy with deadly fire and, although attacked by another enemy group of 20 fighters during the ensuing action, he was able to destroy two of the Japanese planes.
