The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Navy and Marine Corps Medal to Lieutenant William H. Kilgore, United States Navy, for heroic conduct while serving aboard a United States Submarine during war patrols in enemy controlled waters during World War II. During four submarine war patrols, as Assistant Torpedo Data Computer Operator and operator of the plotting board, Lieutenant Kilgore skillfully and cleverly assisted in obtaining quick analysis of fire-control problems, contributing to the success of his ship in inflicting heavy damage on enemy vessels.
