The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Lieutenant, Junior Grade Claude R. Frazier, United States Navy, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight during World War II. In a flight against forty hostile aircraft over the Russell Islands, Lieutenant, Junior Grade, Frazier, serving with a Marine Aircraft Group, attacked a formation of eight in a headlong dive, and shot down the tail plane. Then, climbing back into position, he struck again with such accuracy as to destroy another enemy plane.
