Carr, United States Navy, was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Medal for heroic conduct during war patrols in enemy-controlled waters during World War II. Chief Engineman Carr, served in a United States Submarine which sank 82,600 tons of enemy shipping, including a destroyer, and damaged 31,00 tons of enemy shipping.
