The President of the United States of America takes pride in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross (Posthumously) to Ensign Lloyd Jones Mills, United States Navy, for heroism and extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight for participating in bombing raids against the Japanese in the Aleutian Islands Campaign in June 1942. In addition to flying all-night aerial patrols and facing tremendous anti-aircraft fire with utter disregard for his own personal safety, he participated in the bombing attacks with a courageous persistence and conscientious devotion to duty that were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
