The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Lieutenant, Junior Grade Elisha T. Stover (NSN: 0-98475), United States Naval Reserve, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as pilot of a fighter plane in action against Japanese forces during the Solomon Islands Campaign, 13 to 14 September 1942. Lieutenant, Junior Grade, Stover shot down three enemy planes while operating with his squadron from an airfield on Guadalcanal.
