(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Fireman First Class Billy L. Miller, United States Coast Guard, was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Medal for heroism in rendering assistance to wounded personnel during landing operations at Parry Island, Eniwetok Atoll, Marshall Islands. While a vessel was burning as a result of a direct hit and in danger of further explosions, he went aboard the vessel and rendered assistance to wounded and other at a time when the ship’s personnel were unable to do so. His action undoubtedly resulted in the prevention of loss of life of many of those injured.
