The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Navy and Marine Corps Medal to Sonarman Second Class Vito N. Raganelli, United States Coast Guard, for heroism as a member of the crew of a Coast Guard Cutter off the French coast on 30 June 1944. Sonarman Second Class Raganelli volunteered to go aboard a blazing tank landing craft and his efforts contributed substantially to the extinguishing of the fire and the brining of the landing craft to the beach.
