    The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Lieutenant, Junior Grade John W. Bullock, United States Naval Reserve, for heroism and extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight. On 5 December 1944 Lieutenant, Junior Grade Bullock as Co-Pilot of a Navy Search Bomber on patrol deep into enemy territory, contributed to the destruction of two enemy merchant ships. On 7 December 1944 he directly contributed to the destruction of six enemy vessels and one enemy aircraft. Despite intense enemy fire he performed his duties in such a cool, courageous manner, that he materially aided in the destruction of all enemy forces encountered. His devotion to duty through many hazardous missions, his unfailing courage and skill while engaged in combat with the enemy were in accordance with the highest traditions of the Navy of the United States.

    The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting a Gold Star in lieu of a Second Award of the Distinguished Flying Cross to Lieutenant, Junior Grade John W. Bullock, United States Naval Reserve, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight from 19 December 1944 to 23 March 1945. Lieutenant, Junior Grade, Bullock completed twenty flights in a combat area where enemy anti-aircraft fire was expected to be effective or where enemy aircraft patrols usually occurred. His conduct throughout has distinguished him among those performing duties of the same character.
