    The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Bronze Star Medal to Aviation Warfare Systems Operator First Class Gregory Scott Baker, United States Navy, for meritorious service in connection with combat operations against the enemy while serving as a Lead Technical Surveillance Operator in direct support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM from 17 September 2008 to 25 March 2009. During this period, Petty Officer First Class Baker’s extraordinary ability to operate in the most hostile and uncertain combat environments contributed significantly to the achievements of the Task Force. He was instrumental in providing vital intelligence in support of the continuing Global War on Terrorism. Petty Officer Baker’s distinctive contributions, unrelenting perseverance, and steadfast devotion to duty reflected great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.

    The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting a Gold Star in lieu of a Second Award of the Bronze Star Medal to Chief Petty Officer Gregory Scott Baker, United States Navy, for meritorious achievement in connection with combat operations against the enemy while serving as a Lead Technical Surveillance Operator while assigned to a Joint Task Force in support of Operations IRAQI FREEDOM and NEW DAWN from 29 March to 15 September 2010. Chief Baker conducted numerous sensitive technical surveillance operations against targets in support of multiple Task Forces across the area. These operations provided the Task Force with an increased intelligence collection capability, situational awareness of enemy activities, and operational techniques, tactics and procedures and resulted in direct action of many objectives. By his distinctive contributions, steadfast initiative, and total devotion to duty, Chief Baker reflected great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
