The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star (Army Award) to Ensign Theodore F. Bruno (NSN: 0-120316), United States Naval Reserve, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action as Commanding Officer of Motor Torpedo Boat ONE HUNDRED TWENTY-TWO (PT-122), in action off the mouth of the Kumusi River, New Guinea, on the night of 25 – 26 December 1942. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Naval Service.
