    The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Bronze Star Medal to Lieutenant Christopher J. Bushhorn, United States Navy, for meritorious service in connection with combat operations against the enemy while serving as Deputy Logistics Officer, Special Operational Task Force – West, in direct support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM from 14 September 2008 to 1 April 2009. Lieutenant Bushhorn displayed exceptional leadership in a dynamic and challenging combat logistics environment. He was responsible for over 35 Combat Service Support Troop personnel, the management of $370K in operational funds and multiple detachment relocations that required heavy logistical coordination and contracts valued at $1.3M. He had the vision to consolidate the logistics support element for the command and the detachments by implementing data based platforms at the new headquarters location at Al Asad. He demonstrated his resourcefulness in obtaining invaluable crucial financing quickly for the multiple construction projects that were required during the deployment in various locations. He planned, provided funding, and coordinated the development for the Coalition Forces training compound at the Iraqi Special Operations Forces 9th Battalion base camp. His effort as liaison with Iraqi Special Operations Forces was critical in the success of the command mission to provide assistance for Foreign Internal Defense. Lieutenant Bushhorn’s distinctive contributions, unrelenting perseverance, and steadfast devotion to duty reflected great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
