The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Navy and Marine Corps Medal to Pharmacist’s Mate Second Class Dominic F. Bronte (NSN: 8053991), United States Naval Reserve, for heroism during the sinking of the U.S.S. BISMARCK SEA (CVE-95) on 21 February 1945. He voluntarily remained at his post in the forward battle dressing station after the order had been given to abandon ship, treating the injured and wounded and equipping them with life jackets. Although exhausted when rescued he continued his efforts to aid the injured and wounded aboard the rescue vessel. His conduct throughout was in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
