The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Legion of Merit with Combat “V” to Captain Cornelius Adam Brinkmann (NSN: 0-19310), United States Navy, for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States in the performance of outstanding services from 1 February 1945. As Supply Officer on the Staff of Commander Naval Air Bases, Captain Brinkmann successfully disposed of the diverse complex problems involved in the planning, mounting, entry and delivery of all supplies for the operation of Naval and Marine aviation units employed in the assault and occupation of Okinawa, Ryukyus, and shipping in the China Sea. His untiring efforts, zeal and sound judgment were constantly reflected by the steady flow of aviation supplies to combat units. His performance of duty materially contributed to the successful prosecution of these operations and were at all times in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
