The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting a Gold Star in lieu of a Second Award of the Distinguished Flying Cross to Ensign Robert Harry Brewer (NSN: 0-290266), United States Navy, for heroism and extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as pilot of a carrier-based fighter aircraft operating in the vicinity of Northern Honshu on 15 July 1945. In the face of undesirable weather conditions and intense enemy anti-aircraft fire, he continued a low level photographic run and obtained pictures which were of great value in planning other strikes. His courage and devotion to duty were at all times in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.

The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Ensign Robert Harry Brewer (NSN: 0-290266), United States Navy, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight in operations against the enemy in the vicinity of Okinawa, Kyushu, Honshu. As pilot of a carrier-based plane during the period 25 April to 30 July 1945, he participated in twenty strikes against enemy shipping, airfields, and installations, inflicting extensive damage. His skill and courage were at all times inspiring and in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
