The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Aviation Ordnanceman Second Class George Edgar Brady, United States Navy, for heroism and extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight. As a member of the aircrew of Lieutenant Schwarzwalder, Aviation Ordnanceman Second Class Brady participated in a gallant attack upon a large task force of the Japanese Imperial Navy near the island of Leyte, Central Philippine Islands, on 25 October 1944. The coolness and determination which Aviation Ordnanceman Second Class Brady displayed during this attack, though subjected to intense anti-aircraft fire was superb. The superior skill and magnificent teamwork he displayed as a member of this combat crew materially contributed to the success of the attack which resulted in severe damage being inflicted upon capital ships of the enemy fleet. His actions were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
