The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Lieutenant, Junior Grade Richard H. Bradley (NSN: 0-146628), United States Navy, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a Patrol Plane Commander of a PBY-1 Liberator aircraft, during more than fifty photographic, search and special missions from 25 April 1943 to 24 January 1944, in the South and Southwest Pacific. Lieutenant, Junior Grade, Bradley, in spite of the fact that his missions were subjected to much anti-aircraft fire, flew his aircraft through this shellfire to photograph enemy installations. These missions were performed with the highest degree of ability and skill. The ability, judgment, and determination to fly in these dangers with complete disregard for his own personal safety, and complete disregard for his own personal safety, and to complete the missions assigned him were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
