The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Lieutenant, Junior Grade Oscar S. Bradbury, Jr. (NSN: 0-277817), United States Naval Reserve, for heroism and extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight off southern Korea on 18 May 1945. As pilot of a Privateer bomber he aggressively and in the face of anti-aircraft fire from ships and shore batteries attacked five enemy ships at low level. He sank an oiler and a freighter by bombing and strafing, and severely damaged three freighters and an intercepting enemy fighter plane. His skill, aggressiveness and courage were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
