    The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Lieutenant, Junior Grade Oscar S. Bradbury, Jr. (NSN: 0-277817), United States Naval Reserve, for heroism and extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight off southern Korea on 18 May 1945. As pilot of a Privateer bomber he aggressively and in the face of anti-aircraft fire from ships and shore batteries attacked five enemy ships at low level. He sank an oiler and a freighter by bombing and strafing, and severely damaged three freighters and an intercepting enemy fighter plane. His skill, aggressiveness and courage were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.

    The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting a Gold Star in lieu of a Second Award of the Distinguished Flying Cross to Lieutenant, Junior Grade Oscar S. Bradbury, Jr. (NSN: 0-277817), United States Naval Reserve, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as pilot of a United States Navy Patrol Bomber in operations against the enemy on 26 July 1945. Lieutenant, Junior Grade Bradbury, at masthead height and in the face of anti-aircraft fire, attacked shipping and shore installations at Shingu, Honshu, which resulted in undoubted destruction to three trawlers and damage to two others, the destruction of two buildings, a dock, and a vital railroad tunnel, and the silencing of three shore gun positions. On the return to base, his ingenuity, resourcefulness and skill resulted in the successful rescue of an aviator downed at sea. His aggressiveness, disregard for danger, and extreme devotion to duty were in accordance with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
