The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Navy and Marine Corps Medal to Aviation Machinist’s Mate Second Class Albert J. Boragno (NSN: 3777480), United States Naval Reserve, for heroism while serving as plane captain attached to Carrier Aircraft Service Unit TWENTY-FIVE on 31 July 1945. Aviation Machinist’s Mate Second Class Boragno, in the face of considerable danger to himself and with utter disregard for his own safety, threw himself against a shipmate, who was about to be struck by the revolving propeller of an advancing plane. His action resulted in the man being thrown clear of the plane and propeller and saved from probable death or injury. Aviation Machinist’s Mate Second Class Boragno’s conduct on this occasion was in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
