The President of the United States of America takes pride in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross (Posthumously) to Aviation Machinist’s Mate Second Class Robert William Bogert (NSN: 2252546), United States Navy, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a turret gunner of a carrier based Torpedo bomber plane which carried out a determined torpedo attack resulting in a direct torpedo hit on an enemy battleship on 24 October 1944. His skill and courage were at all times in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
