The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Ensign Glenn T. Bodman (NSN: 0-187033), United States Naval Reserve, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action as Assistant Beachmaster of an attack transport during the assault on Tarawa, 20 to 24 November 1943. Ensign Bodman, while frequently under enemy fire, performed his duties in an outstanding manner on the dock at Red Beach THREE. His conduct throughout was in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
