    The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting a Gold Star in lieu of a Second Award of the Distinguished Flying Cross to Lieutenant, Junior Grade George M. Blair (NSN: 0-124940), United States Naval Reserve, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight against the enemy. On 4 December 1943, in the raid on Kwajalein Atoll, he personally shot down two enemy planes while he himself was under attack by enemy fighter planes. His skilful flying, accurate shooting under fire, and his display of courage were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.

    The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Lieutenant George M. Blair (NSN: 0-124940), United States Naval Reserve, for heroism and extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight in operations against enemy shipping, aircraft and installations, in the vicinity of Miho and Yonago, Honshu, Japan, on 25 July 1945. As leader of a fighter sweep in the face of accurate enemy anti-aircraft fire he made repeated bombing, strafing and rocket attacks against dispersed enemy aircraft, destroying one aircraft and damaging another. He led his group in strafing attacks on a merchant vessel, causing it to sink. He remained over a downed pilot, shot down by anti-aircraft fire, until relieved. He and his wingman then proceeded back to base in extremely poor weather. His leadership, devotion to duty, skill and courage were at all times in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
