    The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Lieutenant Floyd J. Bertoglio (NSN: 0-129961), United States Naval Reserve, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action against the enemy while serving as pilot of a carrier-based Torpedo Bomber in Torpedo Squadron FORTY-FIVE (VT-45), in action against enemy naval units in the vicinity of Honshu on 19 March 1945. He skillfully and courageously piloted his aircraft in a bombing attack against units of the Japanese Fleet, including aircraft carriers, cruisers and destroyers. During the action he attacked an enemy aircraft carrier in the face of intense anti-aircraft fire from ship and shore batteries, scoring a direct bomb hit which materially damaged the vessel. His skill and courage were at all times in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.

    The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Lieutenant Floyd J. Bertoglio (NSN: 0-129961), United States Naval Reserve, for heroism and extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight in operations against Japanese shipping in the vicinity of Formosa on 15 January 1945. As pilot of a carrier-based Torpedo Plane he made a successful bombing attack upon an enemy destroyer in the face of intense anti-aircraft fire from ship and shore, scoring a damaging hit and probably sinking the destroyer. His courage and disregard for his own safety were at all times in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.

Bertoglio (NSN: 0-129961), United States Naval Reserve, for heroism and extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flights in operations against the enemy in the vicinity of Formosa, Philippine Islands, French Indo-China, Nansei Shoto, Volcano Islands, Kyushu and Honshu. As pilot of a carrier-based Torpedo Plane during the period 3 January to 5 April 1945, he participated in twenty strikes against enemy shipping, airfields and installations, inflicting extensive damage. His skill and courage were at all times in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
