The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Lieutenant Greenville R. Berkeley (NSN: 0-104721), United States Naval Reserve, for heroism while participating in aerial flight over the Kurile Islands on 4 November 1944. Lieutenant Berkeley piloted a bomber on a diversionary mission and pressed home the attack through anti-aircraft fire after being engaged by enemy fighters, and successfully completed the mission.
