The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Ensign George Milo Bell (NSN: 0-326240), United States Naval Reserve, for heroism while participating in aerial flight in operations against the enemy in the Luzon, Formosa, and South China Sea areas between 3 January 1945 and 22 January 1945, while serving as a pilot of a carrier-based airplane. During these operations he participated in five strikes which inflicted great damage upon the enemy. Some of the strikes were carried out in extremely bad weather conditions and some involved attacks in the face of intense and accurate anti-aircraft fire. On one of the strikes he scored a hit on a medium tanker which was seriously damaged as a result of his attack. His courage and skill were at all times in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
