The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Lieutenant George Hubert Belk (NSN: 0-129823), United States Naval Reserve, for heroism and extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight in operations against the enemy on 16 February 1945, in the Tokyo Bay Area. Flying under adverse weather conditions and through intense anti-aircraft fire, he made a damaging low-level strafing attack upon an enemy airfield. During this same flight he engaged in aerial combat and shot down one enemy aircraft. His courage and skill were at all times in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
