    The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting a Gold Star in lieu of a Second Award of the Distinguished Flying Cross to Aviation Radioman Third Class Glen A. Barnes (NSN: 3169974), United States Navy, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as Radioman and Gunner of a Navy Search Bomber in the vicinity of Korea on 24 June 1945, and over Shanghai on 15 July 1945. By skillful performance of his duties and effective coordination of efforts with other members of the crew, he contributed directly to the destruction of a locomotive, and heavy damage to an oil refinery, two enemy merchant ships, and several tugs and barges. His performance of duty in the face of intense anti-aircraft fire was in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.

    The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Aviation Radioman Third Class Glen A. Barnes (NSN: 3169974), United States Navy, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as Radioman and Gunner of a Navy Patrol Bomber in the vicinity of Korea on 7 May and 16 June 1945. By his skillful performance of duty he contributed effectively to a series of aggressive attacks which resulted in the sinking of three enemy merchant vessels. His conduct was in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
