    The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting a Gold Star in lieu of a Second Award of the Distinguished Flying Cross to Lieutenant Commander Jerry Moulton Barlow (NSN: 0-84183), United States Navy, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight in the Pacific Area during the period from 18 February to 27 May 1945. Lieutenant Commander Barlow completed twenty flights in a combat area where enemy anti-aircraft fire was expected to be effective or where enemy aircraft patrols usually occurred. His conduct throughout has distinguished him among those performing duties of the same character.

    The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Lieutenant Jerry Moulton Barlow (NSN: 0-84183), United States Navy, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a patrol plane Commander in Patrol Bombing Squadron ONE HUNDRED SIX (VPB-106), in action on 23 April 1945 over the home waters of the enemy. Courageously attacking two enemy picket boats within sixty miles of shore he maneuvered is craft skillfully at low altitude to enable his crew to strafe and bomb the ships. His wise leadership and competent airmanship were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
