The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Lieutenant, Junior Grade Sverre Odd Bach (NSN: 0-299481), United States Navy, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight in operations against the enemy from 16 February 1945 to 21 April 1945. As pilot of a carrier-based fighter plane he participated in twenty combat missions in the vicinity of Tokyo, Kyushu, the Nansei Shoto and the Nanpo Shoto. During these flights he performed his assigned duties with courage and determination which were at all times inspiring and in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
