The President of the United States of America takes pride in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross (Posthumously) to Lieutenant, Junior Grade Warren Seth Anderson (NSN: 0-206421), United States Navy, for heroism while participating in aerial flight on 10 August 1945. As pilot of a United States carrier-based fighter plane, Lieutenant, Junior Grade, Anderson participated in a strike against Koriyama Airfield, Honshu, Japan. He steadfastly maintained his course to the target, and with unflinching determination pushed over in a dive through bursts of heavy anti-aircraft fire to make his attack. On numerous other missions during the period 18 March through 10 August 1945, he scored bombing, rocket, and strafing hits on hangars, shop installations, gun emplacements and hostile aircraft, helping to eliminate many strong enemy positions and contributing thereby to the effective prosecution of the war.
