(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Rear Admiral (SC) Edward Francis Metzger, United States Navy, was awarded the Navy Distinguished Service Medal for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States as Commanding Officer, Naval Supply Center, Oakland, California, from 14 August 1964 to 1 June 1968. Rear Admiral Metzger personally instituted actions which have resulted in improved supply support of all armed forces in Southeast Asia and naval units afloat and ashore. His singularly distinctive accomplishments and his dedicated contributions in the service of his country reflect the highest credit upon himself and were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
