Olsen, United States Navy, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight on 16 November 1965, as leader of the second section of a flight of four A-4C aircraft in an attack against the Phong Bai highway bridge in North Vietnam.
