Crawford, United States Navy, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight on 19 January 1967, as Radar Intercept Officer in the strike leader’s aircraft during a 22-plane attack on the Dong Phong Thuong highway bridge and railroad marshalling yard in North Vietnam. Lieutenant Crawford employed navigational aids to lead the group to the target area.
