(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Lieutenant Robert Franklin Barber (NSN: 0-633943), United States Navy, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (Posthumously) for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight from 1 July to 18 September 1965, while serving as bombardier/navigator of an A-6A aircraft. On the night of 18 September 1965, he located enemy patrol vessels in the Gulf of Tonkin and illuminated them with flares although under heavy enemy fire.
