The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Navy Distinguished Service Medal to Rear Admiral Thomas Robert Weschler, United States Navy, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States as Commander United States Naval Support Activity and Commander Naval Forces Vietnam Representative, DaNang, Republic of Vietnam, during operations against the enemy from 6 February 1966 to 5 February 1967. Rear Admiral Weschler displayed outstanding leadership in commanding and directing operations of the Naval Support Activity. He supervised the development of combat base facilities throughout the First Corps Tactical Zone.
