The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Navy Distinguished Service Medal to Vice Admiral (MC) (Retired) George W. Calver, United States Navy, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States as Attending Physician at the Capitol of the United States from September 1963 to September 1966. Vice Admiral Calver was eminently successful in providing medical attendance to the members of both the House and Senate. In addition, he devoted himself to medical research at the Naval Medical School, and served actively as special consultant in internal medicine to the Naval Hospital, Bethesda, Maryland.
